Training Philosophy Con't

Training hasn't gone well the last couple weeks. Things haven't been clicking and I decided it was time to figure out what's going on with my body. So today I got to pee in a cup and had 5 vials of blood taken...and no I'm not doping. It was to determine if my lack of energy and strength in workouts the past couple weeks are from a medical condition (ie. low iron) or if they can be attributed entirely to suckiness.

I've never been big on nutritional suppliments but I'm being tested for vitamin defeciencies to see if the answer lies there. Its something that I've neglected thus far in my training. I keep a pretty good and balanced diet but blood testing for vitamin deficiencies is a good idea for any performance focused endurance athlete.

Elite level triathlon training is not easy on the body and while determining and correcting any vitamins or minerals that lack in your diet may not be the key to better performances, it starts that process of healthy - consistency - performance. Stay healthy, make your training more consistent and that's how you get faster. So hopefully all this testing will give me some insight to what I can do better.

And remember the other key to consistency is recovery. Here is another installment of awesome Canadian music to recover to...

  1. Hey man,

Hope all is well - you should be wary of some supplements. They might have all of what you need but there are different absorption rates of vitamins and minerals, and some vitamins actually hinder absorption of other vitamins. You'll need to make sure you're eating enough fat as well when you take vitamins as many of them are fat soluble

I'm using 7 Systems (7systems.ca)... I get them on the cheap from Running Free as I'm one of their athletes.
